Lyrica for Fibromyalgia |

My wife has Fibromyalgia and is usually in a lot of pain. I was wondering if anyone is familiar with or is taking the drug Lyrica for their Fibro. If s have you experienced any unusual or unpleasant side effects? |

I looked around a bit online and in the approval study for Lyrica, a very small percentage of users experienced ataxia, confusion, asthenia, thinking abnormal, blurred vision, incoordination, and peripheral edema (1% each). The most common side effect was dizziness (3%) |

I am just so relieved that the medical community is starting to treat fibro as a real illness. When a friend was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue syndrome 10 years ago, he was treated as a hypochondriac.
I hope the Lyrica helps. |

I know this may sound cynical but I tend to worry about drugs that have been manufactured for a different purpose then approved to treat a different ailment. Lyrica was originally introduced to treat diabetic nerve pain, pain from shingles and to help control seizures from epilepsy. I would feel more comfortable if they knew definitively what caused the pain in Fibro patients before recommending drugs for relief. |
