Fish Allergy |
|
|
My husband recently developed a severe fish allergy. I was just wondering if this meant that he couldn't even take fish oil caplets or no fish of any kind. I will also ask my doctor. |

If it is a severe fish allergy, I would not risk taking fish oil caplets. That's just playing with fire! |

More likely than not it will mean no fish products or fish derived products. For a more lenient allergy he may have been able to eat some types and not others but once you get to an extreme stage you normally have no safe zone. |

I would be afraid for him to injest anything that had to do with fish. People have been known to die from severe allergic reactions. |

If he has an allergy, especially a serious one, to any food, anything that comes from that food should be avoided. So he shouldn't take any fish oil capsules or take anything that comes from fish.
I'd also have him checked for shell fish allergies too. There are many things that use shell fish derivatives and it would be dangerous to not take it seriously. |

I love to eat seafoods such as fish, shrimp, crabs and squid. My mom won't allow me to eat seafoods because she said I'm allergic when I was young. I disobeyed her then I noticed that my skin is now immune of eating seafoods. |

He should definitely not take fish oil capsules if he has any type of seafood allergy - unless it can be specifically traced to one particular type of seafood. You may want to consult with an allergist to get more info on his condition. |

Stay away from anyting that cntains Chitosan as well.
I woudl also keep an epipen or benadry capsules handy just in case. Many foods contain fish product derivitives. Like the Ramen noodle soups, contain fish extract.
I hope he gets over it and its just temporary. Allergies can be temproary you know.
