Unsafe imported drugs

I am very concerned about the safety of the drugs that I have to take since China was just busted for exporting tainted heparin to the US, which resulted in several deaths. Any way to check said safety?

Ask the pharmacist for the manufacturer details on the medications that you take - they have the phone numbers and details. Either check online or call the manufacturers to find out where the meds are made. I can understand your concern...lately there have been many problems with products coming from China.

For many years China has been doing knock off products and selling them all around the world. But most of the companies doing business with them do their own product safety tests when they receive them.

If you buy your drugs from an established and well respected pharmacy you shouldn't have a problem, especially since this has hit the news the way it has. I'd guess every company who does business with China is doing all sorts of product safety tests now.

Are you concerned about all imports or just those coming from China? Depending on the drug, odds are you can buy it from a safer more strickly regulated country, like Canada.

You could always look up what the pills say on them on the internet, what color they are, etc and usually there will be a link telling you what it is on drugs.com, or something else.

Also you could ask the pharmacist on background information on where it came from, what it is exactly, etc.

You never really now what is under the coating on the outside of the pill. All you can really do is go by a companies reputation.

I heard the President Bush stopped all drugs from Canada. They were saying they weren`t checked like the ones in the USA. I don`t know about China. They do seem to be having problems with products made there. It scares me enough that I wouldn`t take any medication made in China. I better check my meds huh?
