Getting medications from other countries

I've seen a lot of talk about people ordering their prescriptions from Canada and other countries. I've heard that it is less expensive which is surprising to me. I know most things are higher priced in Canada so why would medications be different?

Many drug manufacturers push their drugs to sell at the highest they can get away with here in the US. Also some drugs aren't yet released to be sold in their less expensive generic form and so they can only be gotten at the highest price here. I also have heard about huge discounts that can be had if you get it online or from another country.

But there is a real danger to that proposition. There's no guarantee that the pills you get are the real thing. It might not be the drug you want, it might be an expired pill that can't legally be sold here, or the pills might be the wrong dosage.

Bottom line, it's too dangerous to buy those drugs. A smaller price won't make up for the damage you might do to yourself if you take the wrong drug.

My sister found that she could get a generic brand of her medication online for a lot cheaper that what her pharmacy was charging her. Instead of talking to her doctor about it she ordered it and started taking it. After taking it she started having seizures from it. Her doctor put her back on the right medication but now she has to take another medication to control seizures. My sister in reality had no idea what she was taking, it could've killed her.
