Stroke

I interact with people all day long and talked with a man today who lost his wife to a stroke. She rather suddenly lost the ability to speak and so they called the ambulance which is the right thing to do by the way. She continued to have symptoms on and off before they arrived. In the ambulance she suffered several severe seizures and never recovered. She suffered severe brain damage and eventually died when she was taken off life support. She was only 37 years old. This has kind of dominated my thoughts today. It would be good for everyone who reads this to check out a website like the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation and learn a little more about this. You don't have to be old to have a stroke.

You're right, you don't have to be old to have a stroke, but it isn't that common for that young a person to have one, so don't get too worried about your health.

Every should try and keep their blood pressure in the normal range and look up the symptoms of stroke. Just like the symptoms of a heart attack, everyone should keep them in mind and watch out for it.

I have heard that several people who have had a stroke recover, maybe not completely, but that they are still able to have normal function depending on how the brain was affected.
