Have you ever heard of Pityriasis alba? |

My daughter was getting these white spots on her face right at the end of Spring/beginning of summer. It was like her face was tanning but these spots were not. We knew it had something to do with the sun.
I took her to the dermatologist and he took 1 look and said it was Pityriasis alba. It's a mild form of eczema. They gave her a steroid cream to help with the itchiness and said to stay out of the sun. We were also told to moisturize her skin often.
Does anyone know if this is something that she will grow out of? She is 13, and it just happened this past year. Also is there a way to stop the patches from coming to begin with?
We have a follow up appointment soon and I will be asking these same questions.

Pityriasis Alba is a chronic skin disorder affects some children usually between the ages of 6 to 12. And this rash is characterized by patches of lighter skin mainly on the face, The rash appears to get worse when the skin is drier.
About treatment of this type of rash is not necessary because it will resolve on its own. But using moisturizer or hydrocortisone may make the patches go away faster. Even with treatment, the rash may take months to resolve.
