I am one of those vain individuals who would rather pay almost $60.00 than have a cold sore for a week. Valtrex pills are large, and you must consume multiple pills before the cold sore surfaces when you first feel that tingle in order for the medication to have effect. Valtrex is also used to treat shingles and genital herpes and can be used as a daily dose in order to prevent outbreaks. After I am suffering from the flu, or have really chapped lips I make sure to have some of these pills on hand because I am bound to get a cold sore after one of these events. Valtrex should not be used by those suffering from kidney disease, or more than two doses during the course of a day.
