Additional Comments:

Erythromycin is commonly prescribed for strep throat for persons that are allergic to penecillian. It is a common antibiotic prescribed. It is important to take the antibiotic with food as it has caused me nausea and cramps to take it on an empty stomach. It can be very uncomfortable. As for effectiveness, this is the one of the best. Symptoms seem to subside at a quick rate, and I am able to swallow again. I get a good case of strep throat yearly, and every year this antibiotic gets rid of it. Erythromycin works to inhibit the bacteria from creating proteins. It is important to avoid intense UV light such as tanning beds as the antibiotic increases sensitivity in the skin. It is available in tablet, or liquid form.
