I've personally not experienced any of the negative side effects described in the pamphlets distributed with the medication. Overall I've been very pleased with the drugs effectiveness in helping to control my asthma.

Positive Aspects of Albuterol:

Without a doubt this was the cheapest, fast acting relief from asthma attacks.

Negative Aspects of Albuterol:

The palpitations caused by the drug were severe-to the point that I had to stop taking it. My heart would race at up to 175 beats per minute.

Reason for taking Albuterol:

Treatment of asthma.

Additional Comments:

For most people this is an ideal for treatment for an attack-but in recent years something must have changed with the ingredients. I was fine on one inhaler, and the next-palpitations.

Positive Aspects of Albuterol:

Quick acting for my son's mild asthma attacks.

Negative Aspects of Albuterol:

When my son was little it caused loose and irritating stools. It also makes him very hyperactive when he's taking it several times.

Reason for taking Albuterol:

Mild Asthma

Additional Comments:

My son has had mild asthma since he was an infant. He is now 9. His attacks are few and far between and seem to be seasonal. He has been taking Albuterol since he was 2 a few times a year for his asthma attacks.

Positive Aspects of Albuterol:

Increased ability to breathe and eliminated shortness of breath.

Negative Aspects of Albuterol:

No ill side effects

Reason for taking Albuterol:

Was prescribed for a severe case of bronchitis

Additional Comments:

I recently found myself in the emergency room while visiting my daughter in Indiana. What I thought was just a bad cold, really turned into something more severe. I had never experienced the feeling of not being able to breathe and it scared me like nothing else. I went to the emergency room at 4:00 am when I decided that it was more than I could take. After several hours and x-rays, I was told that I had bronchitis. Obviously I was given antibiotics, but also given the albuterol with inhaler. All I can say is WOW--worked wonders. I used for approximately 6 days when needed and thank God everyday for medications that work.
